Following the Rohingya refugee influx in 2017, the Youth Working Group (YWG), co-chaired by UNFPA and NRC, was established in 2019 to address service gaps while promoting opportunities for adolescents and youth in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. It initially operated under the Education Sector until transitioning to a cross-sectoral platform within the ISCG in Q4 2024. The YWG aims to address adolescent and youth’s needs within the overall humanitarian response and program cycle, using an inclusive and age-and gender-responsive approach. The YWG promotes local youth-led initiatives and strong multi-sectoral coordination to address the specific needs of both Rohingya refugees and host community youth. Through its advocacy initiatives, the platform recognizes youth as crucial assets and partners in the humanitarian response, ensuring they are not merely beneficiaries but active contributors to their and their community’s resilience and growth.
